You can try this to remove the offending icons. Go to Start/run/type in "msconfig"(without quotes)/click ok/click startup tab and uncheck the boxes associated with the icons you're trying to remove. Make a note of what you disabled just in case you disable something not associated with what you doing. If you find that you have disabled something you need, go back and put the checkmark back in the box and restart your computer. Hope this helps.
