Babe Ruth was a fiction. He was a series of different people playing a role to create a media buzz for professional baseball. The guy that showed up on hospitals was just a down on his luck street bum who had been an actor. They used different people for the hitting and gave strict instructions to the opposing pitchers to pitch easy to "The Babe".
