Intel can use, and is rumored to have been forced to use, HT. theinquirer.net But I just don't see where Intel will use x86-64. Consider how aggressively they went after HT with their not even defined 3GIO when it was being bandied about that HT could replace PCI. For Intel to adopt x86-64 would be to admit that AMD did something right, and I don't think they have it in their corporate culture to do that... Besides, imagine the mess when Paul's head explodes. It's worth a lot to avoid that.
