Andreas: if you look at Intel's prices on Pricewatch they also sell their parts below list prices right now (however, only for a 0-5% discount in most cases). That indicates to me that CPU demand is generally low right now.

I disagree. As with AMD, Intel CPU prices on PriceWatch are always well below list price (although not as much as AMD) and the relative stability of the price right now would seem to indicate that the P4 shortage has not yet been relieved.

There are a variety of reasons why processors can be found below list price on Pricewatch. One reason is, of course, that the processors can actually be gotten hold of at a price below list, but there are other factors. Some stores will use extremely low CPU prices to lure customers in and then make up the money on pricing of other components (since consumers normally prefer to buy from a limited number of stores). Another significant factor is that many "PriceWatch stores" use a ridiculously large S/H fee to make their money.
