I used to live within a baseball pitch from the UN. It was a mess every time someone came to visit it. That is one of the main reasons why I left that neighborhood. Anyways, early on before I was used to all the restrictions, one morning I went across the street to buy some milk to have with my cereal. I was too sleepy (and grumpy) that morning to get fully dressed, so I put on a long coat and went out in my pajamas. It was literally a 20 second walk, so it should not have been a problem. By the time I got my milk to go home, I was accosted by a cop wanting ID. Apparently Farah khan or the VP or some big wig was to give a speech in the UN and they were doing a security sweep. I was not amused. Thankfully, despite media coverage to the contrary, the NYC police is actually very lenient and I made it back without much problem. Just the same, the neighborhood must be hell now.
