i actually have several black walnut trees on a property i own in the midwest...they are very 'strong'.....and as you can see a bit of a pita to 'harvest'

i do enjoy walnuts in my salads as well...as well as pecans.... but for some reason, walnuts and cashews are too strong for me as a stand alone snack...i try to eat 5 to 10 pecans as a 'snack' food...(almonds too)

rinconron....the pear recipe sounds wonderful....
