I understand you point now. You are correct. It is sad that our political system is so nasty that no person of honor is willing to run for office. Only those who have no character are willing to undergo the smearing. There are a few rare exceptions to this rule.

One problem is that most people make promises of what they want to do after being elected rather than of the freedoms they hope to protect. Their promises always seem to involve large expenditures by government. Thus continues a cycle of expanding fiscal waste.
