Jeffrey, on TradeStation, etc

First, my apologies for having taken so long to respond to you.

TradeStation and SystemWriter, are both software programs that enable you to write, test and generate signals on systems that you develop or obtain from elsewhere. It is a very powerful program and it enables one to write a program to test systems in something resembling English though the instructions are mathematically based. So for someone who is not a programmer--like myself--this is very useful. TradeStation also enables one to hook up to real-time data and generate signals on an intra-day basis for day-trading. When I bought TradeStation it was my intention to day trade, but I was not successful at it and I stopped. I have not been able to develop a stable system for intra-day trading. Both these products are by Omega Research and are excellent products in terms of what they do but the technical support that Omega Research provides is abysmal--and I am being kind when I say that. I don't call them, if I can help it, but instead rely on a couple of user groups whose members freely offer advice and help to each other. The programs are expensive--the real-time version of TradeStation is about $2000 and the "end of day" version, which does not allow for intra-day trading is about $1000. The latter has replaced SystemWriter--at least that is my understanding.

I have never regretted buying the programs; the systems that I use were developed using System-Writer and TradeStation and quite apart from the fact that these systems have made me money, it has enabled me to test out systems that are touted by various people---and guess what, most of them don't make money.

The programs are more geared to technical trading so if you are not conceptually comfortable with the use of TA for trading then I would not buy these programs. BTW, Omega has a home page and youcan get more information from their site -- if you need help with the url let me know, otherwise I am sure that any of the search engines will get you to them

I know nothing about the GlobalLink Sat Link --tell me more about it.

Regards
