Suggest reviewing AV Comparatives Ongoing Test Results: av-comparatives.org Comparative Test Results: av-comparatives.org Proactive Test Results; av-comparatives.org Reviewing the Comparative testing Avira Scores 99.3%; G Data 99.6% and Alwil Avast 97.3% .... BUT now look at the Proactive Testing which indicates how well each company responds to identified in the wild malware: Avira 74%; G Data 66%; and Avast 53%. Lastly theres the scan speed with Avira at 17.7 MB/sec; G Data 10.6 MB/sec; and Avast at 15.5 MB/sec. Check the full test reports and make your own determinations ... this testing of all the major products is ongoing with periodic reports and, to my knowledge, is the ONLY independent and thorough testing against a complete real malware suite.
