That command fixes bad sectors, in most cases it means your hard drive is failing, back up your data.

So do what Joe B. said, find out the manufacture of the hard drive, go to that site and get the hard drive diagnostic utility and run it. It will tell you if there are bad sectors on your hard drive. It will identify them and mark them as bad so data can't be written to them. If it finds bad sectors, from my experience this means the hard drive is dying. Some will disagree, but thats been my experience.
