One other thing on options...
I remember the days where the market almost always went up on options expiration day. The reason, IMO, was because all those Call writers often didn't own the underlying stock. This meant that they *must* buy the stock in order to give it to the Call holder upon exercise. Of course not all Calls are exercised. Heck, I've only exercised Calls like 3 or 4 times. It's a complicated matter, but nowadays it is much more stable as traders anticipate the inevitable.
