The Brazilian government may delay until June the lowering of interest rates to their levels in October, when they were doubled, if Asia's financial crisis deepens.

-- ENRON TO FINANCE $500 MILLION PETROBRAS OIL PROJECT

U.S.-based natural gas firm Enron, which already has invested $2 billion in Brazil, will lend $500 million to state oil company Petrobras to produce oil at Bijupira-Salema field in the offshore Campos basin near Rio de Janeiro.

-- BANCO DO BRASIL TO SELL ITS LOCAL, OVERSEAS BROKERAGES

Brazilian federal bank Banco do Brasil announced it plans to sell ''as quickly as possible'' its local brokerage DTVM and overseas securities unit BB Securities.

-- NOSSA CAIXA NOSSO BANCO SEEKS FOREIGN PARTNER

Sao Paulo bank Nossa Caixa Nosso Banco is seeking a strategic partnership, preferably with two or three foreign institutions, to help it take on the duties of soon-to-be-privatized state bank Banespa.

-- SIXTY-SEVEN PCT OF STOLEN CARS ARE NOT RECOVERED

Brazilian police have only been able to recover 32.8 percent of cars stolen over the last seven years, according to the National Motor Vehicle Registry.
