But The greatest ocean depth is 36,200 feet over 11,000 meters! So if one dug a hole 53774.613 feet deep at the bottom of the deepest part of the ocean one could store hydrogen at the same energy density as gasoline. One could store 1268.7 MJ of energy. in 1.3333 cu ft. The energy of 10 gallons of gasoline. 17.040646 miles below sea level and that would require a hole 10.2 miles deep at the deepest place in the ocean. A league is 3 miles. 20,000 leagues is 60K miles. The diameter of the earth at the equator is 7,926.41 miles (12,756.32 kilometers). .. So 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is 52K miles out in space.
