Ken,
You can stop the automatic check for TWS updates if you want. Just click on your START button, then find and click on the STARTUP item and this should bring up a list of programs that are started each time your computer boots. Now, right click on the CHECK FOR TWS UPDATES, and select the delete option. This will take the check for updates OUT of the startup process.
I've done this and when a new version of the program is available, I get a message when I start the TWS program that a new version is available. Then I go and retrieve the new version at my leisure.
