No definitive evidence for either claim AT ALL.

As a mater of fact, the most recent studies show that the active ingredients of pot *relax* the constriction of the air sacks in the lungs (EXACTLY the OPPOSITE of what tobacco does), and so may be of benefit to asthmatics --- although no reputable medical professional suggests that people smoke anything.

As far as 'cancer', are you aware of the recent double-blind Portugal study that showed the active ingredients of pot to have cancer cell destroying abilities? (Or of the earlier 1970's US government study that showed the same anti-cancer properties... and that the DEA subsequently removed from all government libraries?)
