RESEARCH ALERT (News from REUTER) Alex. Brown said analyst Mary McCaffrey cut her earnings estimate for Symantec Corp to $1 per share from $1.10 for 1997. --- cited lower growth rate in June, and said no new products were released in the first quarter, ended in June. --- expects new products to come out in September, which should help for the rest of the year. --- shares dropped 7/8 to 13.
