What is this '..trough of daily volume * ....mumbo jumbo'. You should stick to your strength, which is great fundamental analysis.

I think he (Paul Chiu) is referring to 'hammers' as interpreted in the commodities pits, which are based on Japanese candlestick chart patterns. ex: C-Cube opened at 47.5, high was 49, low 46.25, had the close been 47.5, you would have a hammer, which would be interpreted as a short term bottom. In practice, grains traders would cover short positions here. Although a better hammer pattern requires a longer tail, meaning a lower low than the 46.25 today, preferable 44 or so.
