I note that the article says that Iomega was "on the verge" of announcing a deal with Sony, but that Sony backed out. In fact, they did announce the deal, and the joint product they announced (2GB tape drive) is currently shipping, as far as I know. At least that's what the announcement said.

I have heard nothing about Sony backing out of the deal. Has anyone else heard about this?

PS: I just went back and looked up the press release, which was posted in its entirety on this thread. It's in post 6859. Says the drive is currently shipping, and Sony will be manufacturing cartridges for it.
