US NEWS & WR Oct 18, 1999 (p107) talks about the Travelocity merger with Preview Travel. Tom Parsons, editor of "Best Fares" magazine is saying that since launching its best fare finder tool last April, Travelocity had been more street smart. Its ticket-booking engine lets buyers see three months' worth of fares at once. The article says travel brings in more money than any other segment of E-commerce, and its growing - sales are projected to quadruple from $7.8 B this year to $32.1 B by 2004.

So, I need to ask. If you wanted to invest in Travelocity, would you buy Sabre (TSG) or Preview Travel (PTVL)? Sabre is operating at a profit, but I get no direct shares of the spin-off. Buying Preview Travel will (upon approval) give me a 1-for-1 conversion to the spin-off company.

Opinions anyone ?
