For less than 5% of the cost of a computer system, it is a no brainer to add DVD. I used DVD on a Dell system to watch several movies. With the picture on a 19" monitor and the sound from a satellite/subwoofer speaker system, the experience was quite nice. It was also amazing to see the hardware decoder card only using 25% of the cpu processor. It certainly leaves a lot of options open for the use of movie clips for a new generation of games.

IMHO, everybody who buys a computer this Christmas will add the DVD option. In any case, that is what the boxmakers expect.

As for DVD in the home theater. Too rich for my blood. I would wait for the prices to drop.
