What happens to your clocks when you boot to DOS instead of Windows? It would help isolate your clock problem if we could eliminate one or two areas first. Guess: Could your system be working with an unusual daylight saving time adjustment? (At 1:12 this seems doubtful.)

The Shift-Click stuff. Try this: In explorer, click View and select Customize folder. You'll get a chance to remove customization -- try it. If this doesn't work, click View and select Folder Options, and work through your choices here. Look for suspicious stuff like 'custom' selected instead of 'vanilla' choices. Go through the View tab and make sure you're comfortable with the way the boxes are checked. Note anything unusual or you don't understand and post a follow-up question.

Your questions fall beyond my ability, but since no others have answered you yet, I thought I'd pass along a couple of things to try anyway. Perhaps later today or tomorrow the guys in the know will be back and we'll all learn something new.

Cheers, PW.
