David, Brasil is not Russia, it is not a banana republic, and there are no traded options for apocalypse and suffering.

Conditions which allowed the military to seize control in 1964 are now quite different, and the warm congratulations extended to the coup leaders by then-President Johnson will not be forthcoming this time.

There will be much suffering and pain if this meltdown continues; in Brasil it will be disproportionately borne by the poor and the small struggling middle class. But don't look for the Brasilian equivalent of Juan Peron.
