If indeed the reason for profit shrinkage is the cost of cocoa beans, the cost is the same for all competitors (I would assume). What is preventing HSY of raising the price of the product to compensate for increased costs? The consumers will eventually have to pay the price for their consumption or go without chocolate!
HSY can not absorb infinite increases in the commodity, they will eventually have to pass the costs along. Somehow this scenario does not seem correct in my eyes.
