In the public affairs game I just left, we called that an "evolving position" on an issue. It means you can twist and squirm enough to rationalize whatever comes along. Especially if reality doesn't fit your previously stated version of events. That's one of many reasons I decided to get out of that profession. Spinning stuff endlessly gets boring and tedious.
