Chip Online (http://www.chip.de/PC2D/PC2DA/PC2DAG/pc2dag.htm?id=3000 ) reports about a pretty interesting thing: Intel Pentium 4 will need new more powerful voltage regulation. Even a 1.4GHz Pentium 4 is expected to consume about 60W, which is undoubtedly too much for all today’s mainboards. In this respect Intel has introduced a new Voltage Regulation Module 9 (VRM9), which will requite 12V of power. That’s why besides the conventional ATX-connector, there will be also a special “ATX12V” connector designed particularly for the 12V VRM9. In fact, the whole thing starts looking threatening. Can you imagine how expensive a Pentium 4 based system may finally turn out? Well, a new mainboard, a new case, RDRAM modules and not to mention the Pentium 4 itself, of course ...
