Barnes has had a very solid performance over the first 2 months of 1998, registering better than a 30% increase in price. I hate to cast dispersions on one of Wall Street's biggest big wigs, but Prudential's Ralph Acampora's recommendation on W$W on 1/2/98, that Barnes was one of his best 5 shorts for 1998, hasn't panned out so far. I still can't see the rationale of his decision, although he still has 10 months in which to make a liar out of me.

I continue to look for EPS growth for 1998 to range between +8 and 12%, and a dividend increase is in order over the next 6 months as well. Early 1998 projections call for $2.20-$2.25 EPS.

Come on Ralph, admit you were wrong this this one.
