Kerry ferried SpecOps into Cambodia in early 1969, very dangerous work and part of the CIA and Nixon's plan to strike behind enemy lines, though going into Cambodia was illegal. The Phoenix Program (which this was probably part of, though it's all classified) was a CIA assassination and terror program meant to scare villagers into not cooperating with the VC. Among the common methods used was decapitation. The orders to do this came from high above. Psyops meets SPecOps. Remove the head and a Buddhist can't get to Nirvana. Shades of Abu Graiab. Smearvet frontman O'Neill boasted to Nixon on the Watergate tapes about going on similar missions into Cambodia. O'Neill took over Kerry's boat when he went home. O'Neill however, was not known as a courageous or inspiring leader. So he was jealous of his predecessor. O'Neill lied in 2004 clkaiming he never went to Cambodia, though is on tape boasting about it in 1971. ANy more cynical smears about Kerry's combat heroism?
