seeking stocks that follow COMPX closely - besides QQQ!

Isn't there some TA indicator (beta, maybe?) that
measures how closely a given stock follows the overall
market? I'm trying to trade QQQ and getting few fills
via ECN - and these NYSE executions are murder:

If you try to close a trade with a limit order it can take
minutes to find out that you got filled - so you don't
Cancel for fear that it's already executed and the
confirmation is en route, after that specialist returns
from smoking a butt out on the street.

Yet all the time you're waiting to hear about the fill, the price can be moving away -- making the damage worse if
you actually don't get filled. And then it takes forever
just to get a Cancel through!

The alternative is to use Market orders to exit - which
are probably just as bad, depending on whether the specialist has smoked enough butts or is craving one.

Anyway, I'm seeking some good alternatives to QQQ... things
that almost always move right along with it, with good
volume...

anyone?
