Oh no...it's much, much worse than needing to build a parallel media or hire some new campaign managers. Good grief, it's laughable to talk in such terms.
We might as well face the fact the Republican brand is dead, dead, dead, successfully smeared by a lifetime of steady propaganda for a great majority of our population.
And the Grand Finale! was this campaign where gobs and gobs of money successfully pushed the anti -Republican meme with Mitt as the proxy, over the top...past the tipping point, never to return. One of the most expensive and successful ad campains in history with the sole point being nothing more than Republicans and conservatives are dumb, evil and want to steal your benefits from you.
Whether those bennies are free condoms, or sending you back to Mexico and everything in between. Not only did Mitt want to do this to you...but that damn blonde wife of his wants to do it too, and she's evil as well. I'd use the the C word for effect, like they do, but you get it.
Nearly all of our young women bought into it.
Most of our women as a whole bought into it.
Nearly all of our black minority buys into it.
Most of of our Latino minority buys into it.
And 40% of the white majority now buys into it.
We raise our children in public schools dominated by left wing curriculum. Baby steps toward agitprop as they come home and shame their own parents for not recycling enough, or the need to plant more trees in the yard because the evil tree cutters are chopping them down so fast that their teacher told them there will be no trees when they grow up. Perhaps Dad better start looking for a Prius as his next car too...that is what responsible Dads do in all of the audio visual materials or perhaps it's even weaved into the reading lessons that way. Poor little Johnny...I was still working on Dick ,Jane and Spot in the first grade.
"Prius" just doesn't roll off the tongue in the same way.
We then send them off to college dominated by an even more radical left wing agenda that teaches and encourages them to agitprop on the issues.
Many grow up and get government jobs in which their unions use them as a voting bloc against evil Republicans who would dare talk about cutting back benefits. The lessons of agitprop come back into play, this little army now feels the rush of a mob mentality ...and it works! Over and over..it works, rewarding the behavior now honed over a lifetime, and starting innocently enough in the first grade as a little eco warrior to help save the planet.
When they come home from those jobs they watch the news dominated by a left wing media...a drunken Diane Sawyer prattling on about the evil 1% perhaps....sipping her Chardonnay and popping another Ambien in between commercials while she gears up for the next sound bite targeted at the evils of industry, or fiscal responsibility or maybe some humor closing out the news with a Bill Maher clip noting how Republicans will be eating Big Bird for Thanksgiving rather than Turkey this year....ha ha ha, as the camera's soft focus her face for the closing shot, Diane half winking with that all knowing twinkle in her soft focus eyes...another job well done, delivered with sugar and spice and everything nice.
Her producer jokes off camera that nobody twists the knife better than Diane, not only do they not see it coming they don't even know they've been knifed until they bleed out. It's that twinkle in the eye thing, if only they could see her real eyes he half mutters to himself while watching her stumble off set, another "show" in the can!
And then before they go to bed they watch an episode of CSI in which the evil corporate villains literally blow up an unsuspecting family with gas in their drinking water from a nearby fracking operation. Make note of that the next time it comes up as an issue on the ballot. That poor little girl in her nightgown...blown to smithereens ...and all she wanted was a drink of water in her own home but Republicans don't care about that in their greed for gas drilling and more profit.
They might check the weather channel quickly for weather on the 8's and hear a blurb about the increase in hurricane activity, as the camera pans across a smoky picture of American industry, smokestacks, and of course they already know it is run by evil fat cat Republicans.,,, the 1% Diane Sawyer was earlier railing about.
And we wonder why over half of the country could care less about job creators or fiscal responsibility or why they delight in the absolute smearing of everything we are, and stand for?
I knew it was bad...but it's a bitch when you wake up and it dawns on you how bad it really is across the board.
We've been kidding ourselves. This war is over! We lost and deserved to lose it.
Sure we can win some skirmishes, have some success on the edges, and obstruct here and there.
But it's time to start thinking about fighting a new war, in a different way, with the lessons from losing this one.
You will not be able to admit you are a Republican or a conservative in mixed company much longer.
Those terms will bring the wrath of the mob down upon you. Not necessarily violence but social shunning and making fun of you, at best.
Republican or conservative is a dirty word now...and it's not going to change. We lost and it's an absolute juggernaut across all areas of the culture, full of themselves as it dawns on them what it really means...just as it has now dawned on me.
