Hi Sexton:

Thanks for the reply.

So far today is working out OK. What I've done is:

1) Clean registry, delete active X and cookies (I always dislike doing this as I then have to type in passwords or some domains.

2) Ran virus scan (I have Norton) and Malwarebytes.

This did not seem to fix the problem and that's where I left it last night.

This AM:
3) Increased the virtual memory settings (I have 4 gig of Ram) from 4092 to 6092.

So far I've had Outlook, Explorer and Excel open and it has not frozen (which I couldn't do before). So this seems to be working (it could freeze with just one program open).

I'm not sure what caused this as all at the same time I added the Samsung 27" (which replaced a Acer 24"). Installed the Samsung sofware and downloaded an update driver from MS website for my ATX Radeon HD 2400 Video Card. It was from this point that the system started to freeze when I tried to do too much (which was not anywhere near what I used to do).

I have to see if I can add RAM. I'd like to keep this PC for a couple of more years (its just over 3 yrs. old).

The mother board was recently replaced as it failed the week b/4 my 3 yr warranty expired. This came back from the shop around a month before I changed monitors.

Thanks again.

Tim
