John, I see your point but I think we are looking at a very specific issue with regard to browsers vs say voice recognition or other products.

It seems to me, Microsoft could simply include other browsers as part of a initial selection criteria when you turn the computer on, and the Justice Department would be satisfied. Similiar to how you select it as your default browser now.

All their really doing is removing the icon from the desktop. Not the program? I've never claimed to be a computer whiz, but if you can't figure out how to do that on your own, maybe you should't buy a computer. I serioulsy doubt Microsoft's gain in the browser war has much to do with the icon being on the desktop. It has much more to do with giving the browser and upgrades away free, and being easier to save sites than the Navigator. Netscape made a strategic error bundling Navigator with their communicator package, and Microsoft seized the opportunity.

Now their crying foul.
