Let's look closely at the "disadvantages" you're tossing at Don.

>1. Less software then the PC is a plus

I don't know which platform has more software, and it's not really that important. What is important is that a platform has the software a user needs. I've never been at a loss to find the software I need for my Mac, and it's always been at least as good (more often better) than comparable Wintel software.

The "conventional wisdom" is that there is more Wintel software out there. Strange, then, that Educorp - a leading cross-platform CD-ROM vendor - carries more MacOS compatible CD-ROMs than Wintel.

So it's easy to find all the software you want via mail order. And it's cheaper than the local software shop!

>2. Less market share

So, I'm better off if I own a Toyota than if I own a Mercedes, right? What do I care what other people own, as long as I have software I can use? See response #1.

>3. VERY old apple computers in the schools... can you say apple IIe or B&W mac.

So, old Apples and Macs are still used effectively in the schools. Hmm, old Apple computer products are still useful - interesting disadvantage! How many 286s do you know that are actually being put to good use in schools? Not as many as old Macs, I'll wager.

>4. No games... the kids love that one.

I won't go through the trouble of rehashing my answer to #1, but I will acknowledge that there are a lot of bad old DOS games that never were ported to the Mac because of lack of interest in them. I'm quite content playing Virtual Pool, Star Trek:BORG, Zork Nemesis, and other games on my Mac. And my daughter enjoys her toddler games.

If you've got game playing kids, why not buy them a Nintendo64? That way they won't need to use the computer while you're on it. Or perhaps PCs often go so unused that the kids may as well play games with them. Whatever.

>5. No OS til 98...

Apple announced it bought NeXT and my hard drive didn't erase the MacOS off itself spontaneously. Amazing! Yes, I still have MacOS on my machine. It works great, is very stable, and I'm still extremely productive on it.

>7. A large LOYAL base

Yep, there are still plenty of people buying Macs, using old Macs and buying software. Certainly enough to keep the Mac industry going.

>8. Lot of allies with companys... That make little from apple... apple who?

Well, Microsoft just announced software yesterday that makes ActiveX run within OpenDoc. I guess msft thinks someone's going to be using OpenDoc. Simplistic thinking about the computer industry isn't going to help you make good decisions. Yes, there are a lot of companies that exist as a part of the larger Macintosh development/support community. How was this a disadvantage again?

>Just a little poke at the PLUSES for apple.

A very little poke indeed! A lot of the problems you seem you have with Apple are not problems users have with them. I can only guess you've been reaing too much innaccurate press. Whatever Apple's problems are, your post adds little to the exploration of them.
