Sexton O Blake, thanks much for your observation. my plan is to install ssd & reinstall windows 7 without the bloatware. I will somehow get the 'dual boot' after the dm1z issues with ubuntu are fixed. I think I will suffer a sensory overload. it seems to be common in people tweaking computers. regards, John
