A couple of things mentioned in O'Neil's book made an impression on me...

'It is a dangerous fallacy to assume that because a stock goes down, it has to come back up. Many don't, and some take years to recover. AT&T hit a high of $75 in 1964 and took twenty years to come back." If you bought AAPL in 9/87 you would now be sitting on a loss.

The Turkey Story

An old man made a turkey trap..."One day he had a dozen turkeys in his trap and then one sauntered out, he wished he had pulled the string while all 12 were in the trap and decided to wait a moment to see if the 12th turkey would go back into the trap. While he was waiting two more walked out leaving 9, now he wished that he would have been happy with eleven...he thought he would wait another moment until just one of the turkeys walked back and he would be happy with ten, then three more walked out, well you can imagine the conclusion...
