Analog IC design firms Analog Integration Corporation (AIC) and System General (SG) stated they will see on-year April revenue growth for April, while Global Media Technology estimates it will also see strong growth in April. For the second quarter, both firms are positive about rising demand for the TFT-LCD and notebook applications.
AIC generated revenues of NT$81 million last month, up 11.7% on year. The firm projects its monthly revenues will top NT$90 million in May or June, buoyed by new contributions from OLED driver ICs.
AIC began volume shipments of OLED driver ICs for handset sub-displays and MP3-player panels this quarter, after securing product verification from an unspecified OLED-panel maker in Taiwan, according to the company. Meanwhile, demand for consumer electronics-use analog ICs is heating up in Japan, with sales from the region contributing almost 20% to AIC’s current monthly revenues, the company said.
SG expects to maintain monthly revenues of more than NT$100 million in May and June. In April, the maker posted revenues of NT$126 million, up 95.3% on year.
Although Global Media has yet to release its April results, the company estimates revenues may reach NT$125, an on-year jump of 98.4%. Revenues were buoyed by strong orders for notebook-use analog ICs, and revenues from the segment are expected to rise 10-20% sequentially in the second quarter, according to the company. In addition, shipments of handset-use power management (PWM) ICs will remain strong this quarter.
Thanks to a large order of PWM ICs from MediaTek, the firm recorded an on-year hike of 118% in revenues and 97% in profits in the first quarter.
In related news, an order of white LED driver ICs from Samsung Electronics will benefit RichTek this quarter, according to market sources. Although the analog-IC design firm declined to confirm, sources indicated that the order from Samsung is for entry-level handset models. Despite the growth in revenues, the company will face declining gross margins, the sources indicated.
