Doug,
I have not set up the system yet because I am waiting on the Computer which I will wait for the New Year. But based on the Box which I will not open without the Computer it appears that

Question:Does the Dxr2 card replace my current video card?
Answer: No

Ques:Or do they get connected somehow?
Answer:There is a Video loop back cable that connects the two (minimum SVGA graphics adapter with 2mb Ram)But I would get better card then this.

Question:If they get connected, is there a special connector required on the video card.
Answer: Special connector but I think it is standard on all video cards just a little cable that connects the two cards Like on a cdRom drive.

Ques:Or is it through external cabling?
Answer: the only external cables go to TV and Dolby Digital Reciever Ie: back of most good stereo systems have these connectors.

Question:Are there any other special requirements that aren't mentioned in the specs, which might make the Encore kit less desirable?
Answer: I think that it is an incredible buy at this price because if you hook it up you can have a DVD player for the computer&TV a cd-rom for the Stereo and the PC and if you connect it thru the reciever on the Stereo a Cd DvD player for dolby surround sound. The Cambridge speakers are tiny but have truly incredible sound.
This item is Hot. Go test drive it in the store. No Hype. Just Techno high.
