$1,894 per foot for a Mexican fence.

voanews.com

The above article gives a figure of $6-8 billion for the 700 mile Mexican fence. Taking a median of $7 billion, dividing that by 700 miles, and dividing the result by 5,280, gives a figure of $1,894 per foot for the fence.

Your tax dollars at work! Aside from being a massive white elephant, a reasonable person might ask what good it does to build a fence around rabbits that are already in the cabbage patch.

How much money is $7 billion? Well, for example, it would be enough to pay 100,000 agents $46,000 per year to round up 12,000,000 illegal aliens, and pay an additional $200 per alien for bus fare to the nearest boarder.

More fun with math: How much do illegal aliens cost US citizens?

A full time job, at $7 per hour, results in a $14,560 per year gross income. Approximately 25% of that amount would go toward Social Security, Income Tax, etc., for $3,640. An employer can conservatively figure at least an additional 50% of wages for employer paid taxes such as Social Security, unemployment taxes, workmen's comp, etc., for $7,280.

Now, if an employer can hire an illegal alien for $10,000 a year under the table, neither the alien nor the employer pays any of the taxes the rest of us pay. The tax savings per alien comes to $10,920, times 12,000,000 aliens, or a total of $131 billion per year in taxes the rest of us have to make up to support the illegals, not to mention the 12 million legal citizens who would otherwise be able to obtain employment positions held by the illegal aliens.

Would more Democrats, or more Republicans, in Congress help cure the problem? It doesn't seem likely.

With a $131 billion a year slush fund to work out of, buying the votes of whichever crook is in office is just part of doing business. But hey, if you can chump the peepul into forking over nearly two grand a foot for no bid contracts to build a worthless fence, while ignoring the real problem, it's just icing on the cake.
