What kind of incompetence is this?? Pro...are we supposed to support this kind of idiocy? No serial numbers recorded? Nothing! Why don't we shoot our own soldiers, for PetE's sake!

October 30, 2006 -- WASHINGTON - The U.S. military cannot account for hundreds of thousands of weapons it purchased for 325,500 Iraqi Security Forces, according to a report released yesterday

The report, by the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction, found that about $133 million had been used to buy some 370,000 small arms. But it said there were not enough spare parts, and there was no evidence of compliance with a requirement to register the weapons' serial numbers - a key concern "given the importance of controlling these sensitive items - particularly given the security environment in Iraq."
