I usually keep an extra case of water on hand, just because, and if a hurricane is coming, or a "winter storm" I buy more.

It is funny in Atlanta, every time the weather bureau says "snow", the stores are cleaned out of bread, milk, and water...and I'm really not kidding.

However, two years ago, we did lose our power for five days, and had to rely on coolers..and candles..not fun and we live in the heart of Atlanta! Our cables are underground, but we get our supply from the outside older neighborhood with above ground trees and power lines..Not a good combination. We are working on changing major power boxes.
