"He will never beat Trudeau, not even now. Canada does not need another Pierre..."
"If a black woman is not running for Prime Minister of Canada next time, I'm not voting.
The Canadian Conservatives had two open net shots and lost both elections. "

Let's see, Justin Trudeau is the ignorant, racist, teen aged child of privilege who appointed Jody Wilson-Raybould as Justice Minister and Attorney General because she is female and of North American aboriginal ancestry;

Joe Biden is a callous, racist, senile, criminal, politician who will nominate the next US Supreme Court justice to fulfill the requirement that that person be a female of African-American ancestry.

In both cases the appointees' possible competence is/was utterly a secondary consideration. Primary considerations were/are race and sex.

But we might say, (foolishly, maybe stupidly), that both Justin and Joe have their "excuses":

Trudeau is permanently deformed and handicapped by the silver spoon stuck in his mouth; and Joe is utterly senile.

Now let's look at Pierre Poilievre's electability.

He is the member for Carleton, Ont. a suburb of Ottawa, the nation's capital.

These are the riding's basic demographics:

DemographicsAccording to the Canada 2016 Census [2] [3] Ethnic groups: 80.9% White, 4.5% Indigenous, 3.0% Arab, 2.7% Chinese, 2.7% South Asian, 2.6% Black
Languages: 78.3% English, 9.3% French, 2.4% Arabic, 1.1% Mandarin
Religions (2011): 76.0% Christian (39.5% Catholic, 10.5% United Church, 10.4% Anglican, 2.4% Presbyterian, 1.5% Christian Orthodox, 1.2% Lutheran, 1.2% Baptist, 9.4% Other) , 2.1% Muslim, 19.8% None
Median income: $51,253 (2015)
Average income: $62,030 (2015)

And here's how he did in the last federal election. Note he took the riding's popular vote by a 15% margin. Not bad:

2021 Canadian federal election

Party Candidate Votes % ±% Expenditures

Conservative Pierre Poilievre 35,356 49.9 +3.55

Liberal Gustave Roy 24,298 34.3 -3.93

New Democratic Kevin Hua 8,164 11.5 +2.16

People's Peter Crawley 1,728 2.4 +1.26

Green Nira Dookeran 1,327 1.9 -3.04
Total valid votes 70,873
Total rejected ballots 447 0.63
Turnout 71,320 74.57
Eligible voters 95,639

Conservative hold Swing

P.P. grew up in Calgary, worked for Steven Harper, (a successful Canadian Conservative party PM), understands the West's needs, (and knows they don't actually conflict with the real needs of the East), can get elected even in federal civil service country, and speaks decent French by Canadian standards.

Unlike O'Toole and Scheer, the two previous Conservative leaders, he actually sounds like a conservative and not a liberal pretending (badly) to be conservative.
