FATS Announces the Appointment of Gilbert F. Decker as Director

SUWANEE, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 6, 1998--Firearms Training Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: FATS - news), announced today the addition of Gilbert F. Decker to FATS' board of directors.

Mr. Decker, a private consultant, was the Assistant Secretary of the Army, Research, Development and Acquisition from 1994 to 1997. Prior to 1994, Mr. Decker held positions of CEO and President in Xeruca Holding, Inc., Acurex Corporation
and Penn Central Federal Systems Company. Mr. Decker has served on the boards of several government and public
organizations including the Army Science Board, Air Force Studies Board, Defense Science Board and the Engineering
Advisory Board to Johns Hopkins University.
