Encompass Awarded $18 Million Contract for Houston's Reliant Stadium
HOUSTON, March 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Encompass Services Corporation (NYSE: ESR), the premier provider of facilities systems and solutions in the United States, today announced that it has been awarded a contract worth approximately $18 million to provide electrical construction and installation services for Reliant Stadium in Houston.
Encompass is the prime electrical contractor for the 69,500-seat facility that will be home of the National Football League's 32nd franchise, the Houston Texans, beginning in 2002. The league's only retractable-roof stadium also will host the Super Bowl in 2004 and the annual Rodeo Houston, the world's largest.
The contract calls for the installation of a high-voltage distribution system, an emergency generation system, a state-of-the-art lighting system to meet NFL broadcast requirements and millions of feet of wire. Work was awarded to Encompass by construction manager Manhattan/Beers, a joint venture between Tulsa-based Manhattan Construction Co. and Atlanta-based Beers Construction Co.
"While it's always an honor to receive a contract award of this magnitude, it's particularly flattering to play an integral part in such a high-profile, important project in Encompass' headquarters city," said Joe Ivey, president and chief executive officer of Encompass. "This award recognizes our expertise in providing infrastructure services to stadiums and other large facilities throughout the country."
In 2000, Encompass units were selected to perform mechanical work for an expansion of the Georgia World Congress Center, as well as mechanical and electrical work for an expansion at the University of Tennessee's Neyland Stadium, the nation's second-largest college football stadium. |
