My, but you're up early! I really like the nicotine gum. Sometimes I think I preferred the gum to cigarettes. I quit for six months in 1985 with the gum. Trouble was, I chewed it constantly, merely trading one "drug" for another, and developed temporomandibular joint syndrome. I do really well with the patches if I put them in my mouth rather than on my skin. I have to remove the patch only when I eat (not when I drink), and, let's face it, it is much more ladylike than chewing gum. The patch clings to the hard palate and lasts for many, many hours.
When I had my bout with bronchitis in December, I had to quit smoking, for smoking or, more to the point, inhaling was physically impossible. I always did believe that was perhaps the only truth Clinton told. Anyway, I didn't inhale for well over a month. I would light them and play with them and watch the smoke curl. As I regained my health, I inhaled quite unexpectedly and pleasantly, and was back to my old, wicked ways. I do believe nicotine is probably the most addictive substance on the planet (although I haven't tried anything else). I also know that I have had problems with the altitude and the dryness here and must make a choice--move back to sea level or quit smoking. On the whole, I'd rather stay put.
As for antibiotics, I have always done very well with plain old penicillin. Go figure. |
