Laz, re: ISPD, I will be keeping an eye on its next earnings announcement - right now I see it is going through its lockup expiration.
Also, I see over 6000 posts on yahoo board. For such a young co. I see there is a lot of ..hmm... "conversation" about it. I know it is not an indicator of whether a stock goes up or down, but I like to use the # of posts as a gauge.. and you can compare 6000 to 1700 or so for both EFNT and GSPN. I guess when stocks go up and up, shorts dont have much to say, but when they struggle worried longs and shorts have a lot to talk about.
I dont know if ISPD is the real thing, I am still trying to get a handle on what they make re: DSL. This reminds me of a situation I had with Interphase last year (INPH) Everyone and their mom was touting it as an undervalued SAN play akin to EMLX QLGC BRCD, and it was hard to tell if it is or was.. the jury is still out. Tiny float, tiny market cap, but is it a pure play? But every research report I had never listed them, ... only stocks like Vixel, Emulex, Gadzoox, Brocade etc. I still havent figured INPH out and I guess if I cant make a determination within a few months than I just go with the pure plays.
Same situation with Celeritik (CLTK).. I was watching it at $20 after that news article on MSN came out, it could be called a competitor to RFMD, AHAA, ANAD, and TQNT... but top line growth overall is stagnant, but its wireless area "is" growing I do admit. In the meantime the stock has gone from $20 to $80 .. and market cap is still under $600 Million I think... but once again I never found it in any documentation or stories or research reports as a "competitor" to the other 4. So it could be a "hot stock" story rather than a "quality business" If its for real, hey its a good buy at $1 Billion or $2 Billion market cap. I guess its all about risk levels.
So on one 1 lost (CLTK) and 1 I won (INPH)- I guess the super risk taker would say "well you would of made 400% on 1 , and flat on the other, its worth the risk" :)
So for now I place ISPD in this category of "Im not sure"/ It had huge sequential growth (400%), if I see that max growth next Q (something like 100% growth) again I would initiate a small position, and if I saw it the following Q again (i.e. 50 or 60% growth) than increase the stake. Do I win as big as people like you who are in NOW? no way... but I lessen the risk too.
Oh yeh, 57% owned by Brooktrout, which aint half bad a co. either.. just not a hyped IPO :)
