I dont think a stop loss set to a specific percentage decline is always the right thing to do. I dont disagree with using a stop loss, but I believe in adjusting the stop loss percentage by the beta of the stock it is being used for. lets use a 10% base for a stop loss example. This would be fine for a stock with a beta of one, but for a stock with a beta of 2,the stop loss percentage should be higher, and a stock with a .5 beta should have a stop loss less than the 10% our example is based on.
