The market is going down because America's economic future looks grim. At least in the medium term.

This despite Bush's tax code boosting corporate profits. Problem is, they don't trickle down to the consumers who drive the economy, at least nowhere near enough. Instead the rich are getting richer and everyone else is feeling the pinch.

Bush's borrow and spend now/pay later is and has always been unsustainable, like a big party with a fat hangover to follow. The hangover can now be seen coming sooner rather than later.

Of course the quagmire war and rampant out of control energy gouging has also caught up with the economy. Consumers now find themselves heavily in debt, with flat wages, few benefits and little security. They also have little faith in their government. It's basically a big bubble and it's starting to burst. The tax cut party is all but over.
