I'm not a stock broker or even very savvy about options, just a physician who is long this stock. It seems to me that despite the fact that the 3D accelerator semiconductor market is very competitive S3 seems to be taking multiple steps to insure that hardware and software developers exploit their products. Most of their new generation processors are pin-compatible with preexisting congifurations making the swap easy, they have supported a number of developers' conferences especially within the gaming community, they are working closely with Intel to exploit the MMX chip and are incorporating Microsift's Active X format. Even if a newer chip comes along I don't think it is so easy for game developers' and video board developers to just drop the products in the pipeline so I think long term (over this year) we should eventually do well. Obviously it's frustrating to be caught in this $16-18 trading range but some big concerns are buying this stock and their research probably agrees with ours.
