MS Internet Explorer Question

I've used Netscape Communicator/ Navigator for years now, but recently tried the new version of MS Internet Explorer. I found MS IES to be quite a bit faster, so am going to use it exclusively on the new computer I just purchased.

My question is a MAIL question. When I used Netscape, when I had an email come in a little envelope would appear at the bottom right of my screen along with a ping (sound).

Using MS Internet Explorer and using Outlook Express, it's supposed to notify you if you get new mail. I thought I set it up to check the mail every 5 minutes, but have yet to have it notify me of any new mail, or make any sound.

Any help would be appreciated.
