Furthermore, skeptic, it is becoming increasingly clear that the software crisis will extend beyond 2000. There will still be plenty of work to clean up systems that could not be cleaned up before 2000.

OTOH, I don't want to look back at this period and shake my head thinking I was living in a dream world. There may well be factors that cannot be taken into account now and we may have some surprises ahead as far as world markets are concerned.
