Your point of view makes sense to me. To me, it surely looks like tougher times ahead for a lot of people - med costs, food costs, clothing. People living paycheck-to-paycheck - if they are even going to have jobs - will be backs against the wall.

Wondering if this is already in the price of some of the discretionary stocks. I suspect the worst may not be close.

With very little confidence, I'll take a contrary position though, and assume there are enough people with spendable funds who are willing to spend some on entertainment. I'll start a VERY small tracking position in Dave & Buster's (PLAY). Except for Covid era (2020), stock has traded every year past nine, at least 50% higher than current price, mostly double or more.
